Obituary of Zachary Lawrence McGarvey
Zachary Lawrence McGarvey, age 30, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away on May 18, 2023.
Zach was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 6, 1992. His family resided in Beavercreek, Ohio until moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1997. He graduated from Camdenton High School and attended the Camdenton schools since kindergarten.
Zach started out working in electrical and many aspects of building. He could do just about anything he set his mind to. He started working as an installer of HVAC at 19 years old and moved on to become an HVAC technician.
Zach had the best smile and the best sense of humor. He was so funny and could make anyone laugh. He loved camping, fishing, and anything outdoors. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. He had a huge heart and when he loved he loved with all of his heart. If you were family or a friend, he always had your back. No room for “fake” he’d say. He lost his brother, Brian in 1999 in a car accident. He missed him terribly. His heart grew even bigger when his nephew, Braxton was born in 2019. Braxton would tell people he loved “Uncle Zachy” the most. They had a great time swimming and playing just days before Zach passed. We are going to miss him!
Zach is survived by his mother, Robin Briscoe of Osage Beach, Missouri; his father and stepmother, Gary and Vicki McGarvey, of Linn Creek, Missouri; grandmother Julia Wilson of Osage Beach, Missouri; sisters Alicia Burtin of Richland, Missouri, Macy Burtin of Camdenton, Missouri, and Lynsay North of Osage Beach, Missouri; nephews Braxton Brian North and Cohen Blume; cousins, Adam (Chelsie, Christopher, and Virginia) Arron and Phillip (Carol) all of Georgia; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as two very special friends that have been by his side during Zach's difficult journey over the past four years, and so many other good friends.
Zach is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and grandmother, Joyce and James McGarvey; his maternal grandfather, Thomas Wical; his brother Brian Wical; one aunt, Cindy Wical; and two uncles, Gary Wical and Theo Vruels.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm.
A Graveside service will be held at Port William Cemetery in Port William, Ohio at a later date, where he will be buried by his brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Brain Injury Association of Missouri.
