Obituary of Charles Marshall Foster

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charles Marshall Foster passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Charles (Chuck) was born on March 15, 1942 to Thomas Grover Foster and Barbara Rogers Foster in Vallejo, CA, where they were stationed during World War II.  Charles grew up in Waukegan, IL with his brother and two sisters.  In 1966, he was drafted into the Army where he would become an Army Aviator serving our country flying helicopters in Vietnam.  He would later go on to be an Army Comptroller and retired after 26 years of honorable service at the rank of Lt. Colonel.

After retiring from the Army, Chuck moved his family to the Lake of the Ozarks to live out his dream of building a house on the lake property he had purchased as a teenager with money earned from his newspaper route and other odd jobs such as golf caddying and setting pins at a bowling alley. At the lake, he developed a thriving mortgage business at the Community Bank of the Ozarks where he made many lifelong friends and acquaintances and helped so many people secure financing for their homes.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Barbara.  He is survived by Kum Young Foster, his wife of 41 years, as well as his three daughters and their families: Wendy Foster Grimes, Sheena Walker and Grace Foster.  He has six wonderful grandchildren and one more due to arrive in November.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11AM.
